The lower mainland of BC is well known for our rainy weather and grey skies. Come summer time though BC’s beauty comes out to play. West coasters take advantage of the short summers and head out doors as often as possible. Currently we are smack dab in the middle of a heat wave. This morning at 10am it was already 26C outside.
With temperatures like this it is just too damn hot to cook. But we gotta eat right? This morning for breakfast I made the hubby and I some cool and refreshing fruit and yogurt breakfast bowls to get our day started out right. These bowls are so versatile and you can customize them with your favourite toppings. I made ours the same except added unripened nectarines to the hubby’s. He like his nectarines like apples when they’r super crunchy and kind of sour. I like to add some additional nutritional and health benefiting ingredients like chia seeds for protein & omega-3 fatty acids, flax seeds for the digestive system and local honey to help with my brutal seasonal allergies.
Fruit & Yogurt Breakfast Bowl
Serves 2
1 cup greek yogurt
2 small bananas, sliced
1 1/2 cups blueberries
1 nectarine, sliced (for the hubby)
2 tablespoons chia seeds
2 tablespoons milled flax seeds
2 tablespoons old fashioned oats
1 tablespoon local honey
Divide up all ingredients into 2 bowls and enjoy! No cooking needed!
I hope this inspires some of you to stay cool during this heat wave. If this post inspires you to make a breakfast bowl leave me a comment bellow with your version!
Enjoy the sunshine everyone!
