Last week I saw these glittered DIY ankle boots at kayt et madison. I thought they were really cute but not quite my style. Then I stumbled upon these jeweled DIY pumps at Honestly…WTF and I knew exactly what I wanted to do. Black jeweled ankle boots…yes please!
I was eyeing these cute (and practical!) ankle boots at Superstore last fall. For those who are close to me will know that I am a big time Superstore fan. Presidents Choice and Joe Fresh keep proving that they’ve really stepped their game up. Anyway…I went on a short vacation to Sweden and Amsterdam last October and noticed that ALL of the beautiful Swedish ladies were wearing this style of boot. And they were wearing them with EVERYTHING too. When I got back home I wanted them even more, yet the frugal side of me said to wait and the price will come down since they were $79 which I thought was a bit steep for Superstore. Well fate intervened and they came down 50% at the same time I found those blogs above so I snatched them up.
1. Get organized: assorted sizes of flat black acrylic jewels and E-6000 glue from Michael’s. Not shown: toothpick, bowl/container for the glue.
2. Put the glue into a container (I just made a bowl out of tin foil since this stuff is uber toxic if ingested). Use the toothpick to coat the back of each jewel with glue and then press it firmly to the boot.
3. Use pliers to apply the jewels. I didn’t have tweezers or pliers that were big enough to hold the big jewels so I ended up using my fingers to hold them.
4. I tried to make them as symmetrical as possible but you can do what ever pattern you like. I started with the big ones, then used the small ones to fill in between.
I love, love, LOVE how these turned out. I can’t wait to wear them all over the place and with everything too. Try it out on an old pair of neglected shoes and give them new life.
